Palliative Care Interprofessional Fellowship Workshops

The Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship is a yearlong clinical training program for physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and pharmacists pursuing careers in specialty palliative care. The fellowship is run by the Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care and includes both a comprehensive curriculum and clinical training at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital. During orientation sessions for their Fellowship they spend an afternoon at an art museum focusing on teambuilding, breaking down professional barriers, and getting to know one another through discussion based and creative activities in the galleries. At the culmination of their Fellowship they return to the art museum and participate in activities that allow them to reflect on what they’ve learned over the course of their year. In addition, the end of year workshop focuses on enhancing the leaderships skills and teambuilding they’ve gained in their Fellowship program. The time in the art museum allows space to take a step back and reflect together on what individuals and the group have learned and how they’ll apply that knowledge going forward.
